The beginning: Casablanca PCC

(Full transparency: This is a reboot for me. I ran Hub City Cycling until I had to depart the game to handle some family stuff a few months ago. Rather than rehab my team, I asked for a restart with a fresh team and a new idea.)

Azzeddine Amyn has been a revelation to my country.

The two-time Vuelta de los Castillos sprint classification champion has awakened Morocco to the sport of cycling. Redha Boujattaoui, still active at age 36, has 14 victories on his ledger as a time trial specialist. But none of those came in Divisions 1 or 2. Amyn is excelling at the top level of the sport, and has become a figure of great national pride.

Most people -- even those in my country -- seem to think he's an anomaly, a once-in-a-lifetime talent Morocco is unlikely to ever produce again.

  I disagree.

I think he's the start of something much bigger.

I believe Moroccan cycling can be great.

Why not? The varied terrain in this African country is perfect for cycling of all styles, and if one can handle training in the Moroccan heat, he can handle anything.

All over my country are kids riding their bikes anywhere and everywhere. Many of them want to be like Azzeddine.

I will give them that chance.

Casablanca PCC (Professional Cycling Club) is a Moroccan-only team. We will scout the best our country has to offer. We will train them up to be their best. And we will race.

  We will race hard.

  We will race with pride.

We will race for our country -- perhaps one day soon, representing it on the world stage.

And I believe, in time, we will become the best team in all of Africa.

That's the vision. Time to work.
